About pH
pH is a measure of acidity or alkalinity.
pH - acid or alkali ...
pH (or potential of hydrogen) is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity
of a solution. It is measured on a scale of 0 to 14. Lower pH values mean
the solution is acidic and higher values indicate greater alkalinity. When
a solution is neither acid nor alkaline it has a pH of 7 or is said to be
neutral.

Look at the table to the right and note the different pH values of some
comment solutions (the skin value is determined by the moisture on the
surface of your skin).
Toners are your main weapon to balance the skin's pH level which ideally
should have a pH level between 5.5 and 6.
Most traditional soaps are alkaline (they use Caustic Soda in the soap
making process) will increase your pH, causing excessive dryness and irritation.
Cleansers are generally neutral - and have been formulated not to disturb
your natural pH levels.
